We've reached over 67% of our goal! Please continue to donate online and at the museum to help us bring this amazing exhibit to life!
The Douglas County Museum is excited to announce the recreation of an early 20th century business district in a new, permanent exhibit space to share with the public historical objects from generous donors including: a bank safe door from the Arcola Drug Store, a blacksmith anvil once owned by USS Indianapolis survivor and Veteran Earl Riggins, antique doors from the Newman State Bank and a furniture undertaker, a desk from Tuscola's Cornbelt Savings and Loan, Dr. Lossman's dental chair from Tuscola, the original linotype machine from Journal office, a pulpit from Villa Grove Methodist Church, the organ from Newman's Fairfield Church, pews from the Camargo Methodist Church and many smaller items which will fill the exhibit space. We continue to seek more historic items from Douglas County and will use items already in our collection.
We have already completed the entire wooden frame structure of the town and are seeking donors from our community to help finish its final stages.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to complete the exhibit.
